We often ask ourselves: why would my… (for me, it's my novel, my book) work?
But the real question is: why wouldn't it work?
Yes, there are so many books, like so many things (chairs, cushions, t-shirts...). Every day, new ones come out and new authors, like other creators, try to sell their work... My story is different from others, simply because it's mine. I'm not a "great author," but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just… mine. And not a single thing on Earth is appreciated by everyone. Not a single one. I mean, name just one, that everyone, without exception, loves.
Even a bed or a house—some will be impressed, amazed, while others will hate its shape, its color, its appearance… Nothing is appreciated by every human being on this planet. That's a fact. And even if what you've created is made of your heart and soul, your sweat, and the fact that you've given it everything you could… The question is: now that you have it, what do you do with it? You're the only person who will love it enough, who will believe in it enough to tell the whole world. Because even if you believe in it, that doesn't mean it'll work, that my book will sell. This is also another hard truth, BUT, if you don't even try to tell the world how good you think it is and how proud you are of your work, no one will truly be proud of you.
A quick update on my book:
My novel is an adventure story about a young woman trying to understand her origins. She braves dangers to understand where she comes from and who she is.
It's a fast-paced novel, a bit like a detective story. Writing this novel was a complicated yet beautiful chapter in my life. My characters are endearing and complex, and they represent true friends to me.
I hope more people will read it and embark on this adventure, which will soon have a sequel (and I dream someday, is going to be tranlated in English) 😉
Being a creator is, I think, a really difficult thing. Trying to stop writing, to stop creating, is almost impossible for me. But I don't give up because... yes, I think my story, my creations in general, are worth reading and sharing. I gave it my all, and I'm so proud of what I created. For me, it's not just a book. It's a story, it's so many memories, it's my characters with whom I've spent so much time. And even though I don't really know how to promote it, I try, I fail, I take a break, and then I start again. If you can ever give me a hand, even just a little encouragement, I would be forever grateful!
